Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Anchorage.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Anchorage Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

It was very nice to get out and meet other photographers and spend time shooting. The wind made it a bit more of a challenge but overall I had a great time

Jason was extremely knowledgeable and flexible. Very willing to reschedule class due to terrible conditions. And was also willing to have a cup of coffee with us to go over some basics! Excellent teacher! I look forward to the make-up class.

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Jason Larson
Jason Larson is a nature photographer with an emphasis on wildlife photography. He has spent countless hours in the rainy Washington weather patiently waiting for the animal to move into frame. He recently made the move to Alaska with his partner and has been blown away by the incredible scenery and vistas, especially so close to Anchorage. He spends most of his free time exploring and looking for animals to shoot. He is looking forward to meeting like-minded photographers with the same passion for the craft.

Title or Location: Bohemian Waxwings in Anchorage, Alaska
I always leave some crab apples on my tree to attract these beautiful birds in the winter. This was taken in the morning from my back deck. I loved how the light was shining through the apple skins left on the tree. I was using a Fuji X-T5 with the XF 50-140 F2.8

I love when these gorgeous birds visit our crab apple tree in the winter. The morning I took this I only had a minute or two before they all took off on me. I was so happy to get a shot that shows all their beautiful markings. This was taken with a Fuji X-T5 with an XF 50-140 F2.8.

Title or Location: Great Wheel, Seattle Washington
This photo is from early in my photography journey. I attended one of my first Seattle-based photography meet-ups and after the meet and greets, we split into small groups to find some compositions. I had been playing around with long exposures and light trails and the bright lights from the Great Wheel caught my eye. I spent a good amount of time that evening making new relationships and capturing this image.
